Get that Glow

My mother made a great statement the other day, “Your skin is one of the only things you have with you for your whole life. Take care of it.” Wise words (she is definitely a great role model in this genre – her skin is porcelain).

As women in our 20’s, we may not realize the importance of a proper skin care regime. Sure, we are told to take off make-up before we go to bed and the importance of wearing SPF during the day, but do any of us take it seriously?

YOUR SKIN IN 20 YEARS

Of course, genetics play a role in your skin, but CVS’s exists for a reason. Whether you choose on splurging to maintain your largest organ is up to you, but consistency is crucial. Why spend any money on product if you don’t use it?

Whatever you’re looking for out of your skin routine (such as moisturizer, acne or firming) do your research! I recommend starting at somewhere like Ulta or Sephora where the employees are trained, and they can see in person what type of skin you have, and make recommendations from there (they also will give you free samples to try products out!)

My skin routine looks something like this:
Morning:

* Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: pricey, but using it only once a day makes it last longer. It’s gentle and smells like roses

*Fresh Soy Moisturizing Cream SPF 20: Also more pricey than drugstore, but it’s one of the only face moisturizers that is light, not sticky and don’t smell like SPF

The Products.

Night:

*Olay Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser: An exfoliating wash that deep cleans, hydrates and removes dead skin.

*Neutrogena Alcohol-Free toner: The one step most over-look. A toner will immediately tighten your pores and recondition your skin to create a smoother appearance (not pictured)

*Acne treatment of choice: I have been using Finacea since high school. Consult with your dermatologist if you’re interested.

*Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil: Weird-ish smelling, pure oil that works wonders. It will NOT make you break out. I use three drops a night, and the small bottle will last you months (I’ve actually had mine for almost a year)

mixed with

*Olay Complete Night Fortifying Cream: A light and nourishing formula that does the job. I will start using this again in the winter months

I do this 19 out of 20 nights. I definitely notice a difference if I slack on a long weekend or if I decide to not wash my face at night because I am too tired. It’s worth the extra five minutes.

Additional:

*Fresh Sugar Lip Polish: Delicious tasting and very mild, a great exfoliate for those who have chapped and flaky lips

(Subscribe to Lucky Breaks – I’ve gotten all of the below 50% off!):

*Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Facial Capsules: Smells amazing! Put it on at night once a week and your skin is glowing in the morning

* Algenist Multi-Perfecting Pore Corrector Gel Moisturizer: Very light smell and weight. During the summer, I’ve been mixing this with the Tarte Maracuja Oil for a lighter moisturizer. (Also pictured is their Multi-Perfecting Detoxifying Exfoliator I use once a week)

*Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System: Cheaper than a Clarisonic and will still do the trick!

Bottoms up to the dewiest skin (now, and in 20 years!),
Jay
